HANYC Foundation Luncheon · New York City
Dear Member,
The HANYC Foundation was pleased to host the winners of this year’s annual scholarship awards on June 23rd at a luncheon in their honor. Every year since the inception of the Foundation in 2019, four $10,000 awards are given to graduating high school seniors whose parents or guardians are non-union employees who have worked for five years or more at a hotel or hotel company that is a member of HANYC. The winners are selected by a blind selection process from the many applications received and are judged by a faculty member of the Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality at New York University.
The event started off with Foundation Chair Heather Davis speaking about the goals and achievements of the Foundation over the past year and the impact of its work on communities in the five boroughs of New York City. HANYC President Vijay Dandapani read out the achievements of each winner before presenting their award certificates.

Isabella Torchia is the daughter of Glenn Torchia, Senior Sales Manager at Intercontinental Times Square

Isaiah Vidal is the son of Francisco Vidal, Payroll Administrator at New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge

Briana Wong is the daughter of Dora Cheng, Director of Sales and Marketing at Sheraton Laguardia East
