Our History

The Hotel Association of New York City was established in 1878 and represents hundreds of the finest hotels in New York City. It is among the oldest of professional trade associations. New York has a $13 billion industry and the association advocates on behalf of its members, who heavily contribute to that revenue. HANYC sets standards for best practices and advocates for its members in various legislative areas. Established in 2019, the Foundation serves as the charitable arm of HANYC.

The Foundation provides scholarships for students pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor’s degree, human trafficking training for HANYC members and their staff and hotel stays to individuals and families during unanticipated hardship and crisis.
